Four ways to invest for an income, with journalist Cherry Reynard
This week we speak to one of the writers in the next edition of the Get Investing. guide to discuss how to invest to generate an income - more salient than ever given the rock bottom rates we currently get on our savings. We look at four areas: stocks - stressing the issues with pandemic related dividend cuts, and why investment trusts have useful features here; company and government bonds - as a lower risk option than shares for investors, but under unique distortion thanks to central bank action; property - and how risks exist in certain areas of the market that need avoiding, but with exciting opportunities thanks to ecommerce; and alternatives - including weird and wonderful investment areas such as solar farms or smart greenhouses.
