Why investment trusts are perfect for private investors, with Janus Henderson’s James de Sausmarez
This week it's investment trusts - a historic fund structure with roots in the private investor from the 19th century. We speak to James de Sausmarez, Director and Head of Investment Trusts at Janus Henderson Investors, a global investment firm, as he takes us through nearly 150 years of history: beginning in 1867 with the first trust launch, designed for the investor with 'modest means' - perhaps not the rich as you would expect - and discussing how they evolved, became less popular as open-ended 'funds' emerged with commission charging, and then rose again to become relevant today.
