Wealthify Review
Now owned by insurance giant Aviva. Pricing, account access and their range of available accounts are all great, hence the high overall score.

Our View
What accounts are available?
Not a bad score for the guys from Wealthify. They have all the mainstream accounts you would want as a newbie, whether is a General Investment Account or options for sheltering your investments from tax like the Individual Savings Account (ISA) or Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP). If ISAs are your thing, there’s also a Junior ISA option meaning investing for your children or grandchildren is a possibility with Wealthify.

What kind of investments can I make?
There are 5 different styles of investing available – which are really more risk levels than investment styles, but you can choose from Cautious at the lowest risk level, up to Adventurous at the highest. There’s no questionnaire to help you decide which level is risk is best for you, but there are ethicial and non-ethical versions of all five portfolios, making 10 choices in total. You can just choose your own funds though – everything comes as part of the portfolio you decide on.

What account features are available?
Not top of the pack, but still some useful stuff in this category for inexperienced investors like an extensive blog conveying not only the latest news, but also swathes of stuff that makes interesting reading for the inexperienced investor. You can also sign up to a monthly newsletter so all the best bits get straight to your inbox – and you don’t have to be a customer. There are a few omissions from our list that impacts the overall score in this section though – having some help to choose which of the 5 styles is appropriate for you would be the most obvious.

How can I access my account and get support?
Top marks here – like a number of the other DIWM platforms. Not only can you access a chat app straight from the bottom of every page of the website, you can also pick up the phone to speak to a human being if that’s your preferred method of communicaiton. There’s a secure message facility too and a detailed and well written FAQ section for find your own way. Once you sign up you can access your account on a conventional web browser on your desktop or laptop, or via the app on your smartphone.

How much does it cost?
Wealthify’s charges are lower than our cap for a £20,000 ISA, so their points come in at the higher of our two tiers – in this world more points is better than fewer.
